Mr. Mick Oxley

I was born in 1954 and our next door neighbor had a black & tan Terrier “type” dog which befriended me until it died when I was around age seven, this bond has stayed with me all my life. My first show dog was a Dobermann in 1979 he was called Digger, followed by a Manchester Terrier in 1980 who was called Elsa, hence my affix  “Digelsa”.

I like to think I did my apprenticeship “old school” listening to experts and watching the breeds. My first judging appointment was in 1983 where I judged 64 Dobermanns and then Manchesters at a small open show in 1984. I have awarded CC’s since 1990, have judged at Crufts twice and the BMTC Championship show twice.

Our dogs are family pets and live in the house and we have three Manchester’s ages 8, 3 and and a puppy.

Elsa is the only Manchester I ever bought as I have bred all the dogs I have owned, we have bred 16 Digelsa Champions so far and between them they have won 165 CC’s between them.

I have bred and handled 3 Manchester Terrier breed record holders two dogs and a bitch, the current one being Ch Digelsa Declaration who also made breed history by winning group 4 at Crufts in 2018 under the world famous Zena Thorne Andrews.

I have presented the Manchester Terrier breed Seminar in the UK and abroad. I have also presented the Manchester Terrier seminar for the UK Kennel club and more recently presented the new KC Academy seminar.
